Agueda Iglesias Johnston was a beloved and steadfast leader of Guam, both during and after World War II. Her commitment to improving education on the island led her to be considered the foremost educator on Guam. Even after she had lost her husband to the Japanese and was forced to raise her seven children, the loss instead evolved her to become the incredible civil servant and patriot during the War. Her actions to keep the islanders' morale stable by giving information of the progress the United States were taking in order to capture Guam back through secret radios hidden from the Japanese. In honor of her efforts and actions, Agueda I. Johnston Middle School and Library are still being used today.
